IIPRD Webinar June 2025
Webinar On
Software Patentability Trends at the European Patent Office (EPO)
About The Webinar
Patentability of computer-implemented inventions has long been a subject of extensive deliberation and significant interest among intellectual property owners and patent practitioners. Laws governing patentability and eligibility of software inventions vary significantly across jurisdictions, encompassing factors such as benchmarks for patentability, definition of technical subject matter, and application of objective tests for patent eligibility. One jurisdiction that has progressively clarified patent eligibility of computer-implemented inventions is the European Patent Office (EPO).
To shed light on recent trends, Khurana & Khurana, IIPRD and BOEHMERT & BOEHMERT (Germany) have put together a comprehensive 1-Hour Session on Software Patentability Trends at the EPO. This proposed webinar aims to provide an overview of recent developments in the examination of computer-implemented inventions by the EPO, including recent case laws and prosecution examples.
Agenda:
- Patentability and Patent-Eligible Subject Matter at the EPO
- Discussion of Recent Cases : Analysis of how these tests have been applied and insights into the clarification of patent-eligible versus non-patent-eligible subject matter.
