Monomayee is a Senior Associate at IIPRD and Khurana & Khurana, with over 5 years of experience in intellectual property practice. Monomayee holds a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology and a Master’s degree in Genetics/Genetic Engineering from the University of Calcutta and is a Registered Patent Agent in India. As part of postgraduate training, Monomayee completed hands-on work in molecular-biology processes at Syngene International Ltd., a subsidiary of Biocon Ltd., and undertook a project titled “3-Dimensional Protein Structure Prediction and Comparison” during a Postgraduate Diploma programme in Bioinformatics. Monomayee began a career in intellectual property in 2007 at D.P. Ahuja & Co., handling patent-document filing, patent searching, recordal of ownership changes, amendments during prosecution and post-grant, annuity filings, and statements of working for primarily international clients. Over time, Monomayee expanded practice into patent drafting and prosecution across various domains and contributed to building a new IP solutions firm (closer2patents) as its first member of staff. Monomayee has also worked in the UAE providing trademark and patent services to clients, including trademark-infringement and enforcement matters, and is well-versed with IP filing procedures across GCC countries.
